Treats and Treasures

Westover’s Presbyterian Women sponsor an annual fundraiser “Treats & Treasures,”(T&T ) now in its 12th year. Held each August, the two weeks prior to the event are a frenzy of gathering, pricing, organizing and displaying the vast array of  items donated by members of the congregation, friends, relatives and church neighbors.

Westover’s Fellowship Hall becomes a shopper’s paradise of used furniture, small kitchen appliances, jewelrydisheslamps, exercise equipment, toys, tools, books and luggage and so much more! When the doors open for the Friday night Preview Party, the crush is on as folks hurry to grab bargains while sipping libations and eating delicious hors d’oeuvres. Some lucky person or two who purchased a raffle ticket wins a coveted “Tuscan Dinner Under the Stars.”

The next morning at 7am, the frenzy starts anew! More bargains, more shoppers and lots of volunteers to bag, box, tally and take money, checks or credit cards. It’s a busy day, a fun day and even in bad weather (raining buckets in 2019), the shoppers still came, slow but steady!

With lots of help from the Westover Men and the entire congregation, the sale has been a huge yearly success. Proceeds   literacy at the Pulaski County Jail, support for victims of human trafficking, gifts for Trimble House boys at Christmas (Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Family Services), and the art program for kids at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Because of COVID-19, Treats and Treasures has been cancelled for 2020.
